When the Entryway Said, “Play"

Updated: Aug 17, 2025

There’s this tiny space in my house—the entryway. It’s nothing grand. Just a pass-through where shoes gather, coats hang, and keys land. But something about it kept tugging at me. Like it had more to say.

So I listened.

I’ve redone plenty of spaces before. Paint colors, little thrifted furniture finds, rearranged this, created that. None of this is new to me. But this time, I didn’t plan for practicality or go hunting for the “right” shade of neutral. I just thought: play.

And once I said it, the rest came easy.

I found this peel-and-stick mushroom wallpaper on Amazon—whimsical, a little woodsy, the kind of thing that feels like a wink from the universe. I paired it with dusty blue trim and amethyst scallops and let it all come alive. It felt like the entryway grew roots and a personality of its own. Now, every time I walk through it, I smile like I just told myself a secret.

If you’re curious,

(yep, that’s an affiliate link—as an Amazon influencer, I may earn from qualifying purchases-at no cost to you- it helps keep my little creative corners going!!)

Here’s what I loved about it:

  • Super easy to apply (and reposition if you get a little crooked on the first try—ask me how I know).

  • The print is bold without being loud—makes a statement but still feels warm.

  • No glue. No mess. Just peel, stick, and dance around like a home-reno fairy.

There’s something powerful about giving yourself permission to play. Even in the smallest corners of your life. Maybe especially there.

So here’s your nudge, if you need it: go ahead and try the bold print. Paint the door that weird shade of goldenrod (which might be my next move) and make your home wink back at you.

You deserve a place that feels like it knows you’re coming.

The Grief You Carry Might Not Be Yours

Some of what you feel didn’t start with you. I didn’t always understand that. I just knew there were things in my life that felt heavier than they should. Emotions that didn’t quite match the moment.
