The River is Waiting- A Story that swept me away.

I just finished The River Is Waiting by Wally Lamb, and for a few days it had me completely under its spell. I found myself doing all the daily things—folding laundry, delivering packages, doodling with watercolors—just so my mind could focus on the story being read to me.

After listening to the first three chapters, I couldn’t keep it to myself. I texted my daughter, “Read this book.”  That’s the kind of grip it had on me right from the start. I usually wait till I am done with a book before doing that.

Wally Lamb has this rare gift—his writing doesn’t just tell you a story, it pulls you in. The characters feel like people you know. Their struggles, their choices, their tender moments all land with such truth that you catch yourself nodding or pausing just to feel it. By the time my third route delivering packages was over.. so was the book and I wasn’t ready to let go.

This is one of those novels that reminds you why books matter—how they can carry you away, make you reflect, and stay with you long after you’ve closed the cover. Yes I cried for the loss, for the way it ends.. and many times in the story itself. I have never heard of a Wally that could write soooooo well.

I encourage you to get the book off Amazon of course..cuz i may get a small commission if you do!

The Grief You Carry Might Not Be Yours

Some of what you feel didn’t start with you. I didn’t always understand that. I just knew there were things in my life that felt heavier than they should. Emotions that didn’t quite match the moment.
