I got completely sucked into The Compound. It felt just like watching a reality TV show — the kind where you promise yourself “just one more episode” and then suddenly it’s midnight. I binged it just like I was watching the entire season of Survivor at once- seriously. The setup is so unique: the rules of the game guarantee the characters will grow, clash, and surprise you all the way through- i enjoyed that aspect thoroughly.
This isn’t usually the kind of book I pick up, ( i lean towards historical fiction for sure) but it was the perfect listen for my drives — fast enough to keep me engaged, thoughtful enough to keep me thinking. I’d give it 9/10 stars, and honestly, part of that deduction is just because I read it alone. This book begs for conversation — about competition, morality, our culture’s obsession with watching other people’s lives. I wasn't a big fan of the ending, but maybe that's the point?
If you want a read that will keep you turning pages and leaves you with things to unpack later, this one’s it. Read it and then call me.. we shall discuss.
